Festival Music & Entertainment
Boston Local Food Festival featured local bands and performers in three zones, including two stages and a health and fitness zone. Performers from 2011 included:
Bagboys play Bluegrass, Western Swing and various varieties of fine acoustic music. They perform regularly at various venerable venues in Cambridge and Somerville and around the greater Boston area, as well as festivals all over the Northeast and beyond.
Belly Dance Troupe Al-Jawary Al-Hessan (Raqs Sharki) – An exciting and popular belly dance troupe known for their use of many of the traditional props of Middle Eastern dance. Renowned dancer Sardis is director and choreographer of this lively ensemble. View their Facebook page here.
Equal Exchange Duo plays Spanish and American folk, and Classic harmony
Fame and Juliet (Hip Hop)
Gaia Roots plays acoustic, Afro-beat and Latin – Inspired by the roots folkloric music from around the world, the women of Gaia Roots blend vocal harmonies with percussion rhythms and powerful dance in creating a unique weave of traditional music and original creations. From West Africa they incorporate the Djembe, Djun-Djun, Balafon and Krin. From Cuba you will hear the Congas, Clave, Shekere, Guirro, Ashieko, Bongos, Maraca and Kata.
Hot Like Fire (Reggae) – A sexy chick playin’ a mean horn, keyboards and singin’ too? That’s Kelley B.! Her band, Hot Like Fire has emerged as the most sought after authentic reggae party band on the East Coast music scene for the past twenty something years. They perform current, popular reggae and soca music as well as classic favorites by Bob Marley and of course that “Hot Hot Hot” song! Hot Like Fire is a hot, exciting and fun reggae band that always leaves it’s audience calling for more.
KOLORS Band plays Calypso, Soca and Caribbean – KOLORS Band has been under the direction of Fitzroy Isaac for the past ten years. Mr. Isaac, native of Trinidad and Tobago, is a Caribbean musical ambassador and a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has teamed up with a group of talented musicians with Caribbean and other ethnic backgrounds to bring you KOLORS.Frankie JB plays roots reggae – Frankie JB is back for more roots rockers. He plans to stir it up at the festival with his cool smooth voice. Yeh mon!

Sam Reid & The Riot Act (Bluegrass) – A Somerville native band, Sam Reid & The Riot Act will bring an eclectic flair of Bluegrass, Acoustic, and Americano to rock your world at this Saturday at the festival.
Squeezebox Stompers plays roadhouse roots, blues, cajun, and zydeco – A Southie house band, Squeezebox Stomper is back at Boston Local Food Festival. Squeezebox plays a blend of Roadhouse Roots, Blues, Cajun, and Zydeco music all over New England and the Northeast. The Squeezebox Stompers play acoustically or electrically and are available as a trio, quartet or quintet. They play accordion, keyboards, lap steel, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, bass and drums.
Tokyo Tramps plays contemporary blues and rock – Hailing from the Land of Rising Sun (Japan), Tokyo Tramps is on a mission to deliver joy and excitement of true American music, Blues and Rock’n'Roll. American music has a tremendous power to make three Japanese come down here. In 2010, Tokyo Tramps was selected as the runner-up winner of Boston Phoenix/WFNX 2010 Best Music Poll Local R&B Act Category.

South End Show Stoppers (Hip Hop Youth Dance Troupe) – The South End Show Stopperz is a hip-hop dance troupe made up of mostly girls ages 9 to 14 from the Villa Victoria neighborhood. View their Facebook page here.
