ROI Health

ROI Health aims to elevate community focus and improve the health and wellness of individuals. ROI Health aligns the interests of all community constituents- doctors, their patients and socially responsible local businesses – in an effort to foster broad and multiple co-benefits for the community as a whole. The project involves partnering with leading community physicians to educate and guide patients to healthier behaviors, providing patients with financial incentives and savings opportunities to choose healthier products and activities over less healthy alternatives, and subsequently integrating multiple touch points (e.g., local businesses, community centers, schools and community leaders) within a community ecosystem to further promote and reinforce these healthier choices and practices.

Since opening in 1939, Savenor’s Market has been delighting generations of Bostonians with exotic game, unparalleled prime meats and gourmet groceries.  Savenor’s gained national attention in the 1960s as a neighborhood favorite of the first celebrity chef, Julia Child, who relied upon Savenor’s meats during the 11-year run of her PBS show, “The French Chef.” Now, Savenor’s is the perfect stop for award-winning local foods.

Slow Food Boston

Slow Food is an organization committed to improving the food we eat. This means supporting efforts to make our food supply more sustainable, cleaner and, frankly, better tasting. Working under the motto “Good, Clean and Fair” we strive to increase awareness of what we eat, how we procure and prepare our food and how people can preserve local food traditions in an increasingly globalized world. Slow Food was founded in Italy in 1986, ostensibly in response to the opening of the first McDonald’s Rome (fast food, get it?). Today the organization boasts more than 100,000 members around the world, including 25,000 in the U.S. You can learn more about Slow Food’s in Boston at www.slowfoodboston.com.

RelayRides is the world’s first neighbor to neighbor carsharing organization. We enable car owners to share their vehicles with others in the community. We provide the insurance and technology to make it safe, convenient, and affordable. Carsharing means making better use of resources that already exist. There is no need to put more cars on the road – creating traffic, pollution, and parking woes, and putting more strain on the earth’s resources. We are rethinking the model for urban transportation and hope you will too! www.relayrides.com

Local In Season, founded in 2009 by Jon Ross-Wiley and Patrick Kent, is a website dedicated to the celebration of local foods, the people that use and produce them, and what the home cook can do with them. At Local In Season, we believe that community, health, environmental and ecological stewardship, and sustainability are all hallmarks of great local food. We also believe that food that is in season and has not traveled far simply tastes better, and we have enjoyed bringing our readers recipes, techniques, and interviews that support this. Local In Season. Better food is the reason. More at http://localinseason.com.
